8 Mascara mistakes to avoid!

1. You hold on to it for too long!

Mascara does expire! If you can’t remember when was the last time you changed your mascara, it’s probably time to change it. Mascara usually expires after 6 months of opening it. It gets dried out and bacteria get into the formula, which can put your eyes at risk for bacterial infection. In addition, dried mascara clumping.

2. You don’t use an eyelash curler

Curl your lashes before applying mascara so the mascara won’t stick to your curler leaving lashes vulnerable to being yanked out. Start at the root of your lashes, press it together and hold it for about 10 seconds, then move it out to the end of your lashes and repeat.

3. You pump the wand

All the extra air the tube causes clumps and flaxes, which turn into clumps and flaxes on your lashes.

4. You over-packed the brush

Always clean off the excess from the mascara wand into the tube when you pull the wand out of the tube to apply the mascara. If you over-pack the brush with too much product, that may lead to clumps.

5.  You are using too much

Most mascaras are only meant to be layered twice. The more you put on, the greater risk for clumps. If you start to see clumps as you are applying you are likely reached the limit usually two coats of mascara is fine.

6. You start with your top lashes

Start with your bottom lashes when putting on your mascara, tilt your head forward slightly to keep from getting mascara onto your cheek. Then look straight ahead and place your wand at the base of your top lashes then move the wand up your lashes. Apply more mascara from the center of the eyelid to the outside corner; this will help your eyes look further apart.

7. You don’t wait to clean mistakes

If you get a little mascara on your skin, don’t try to rub it away immediately, you will just smear it and have a bigger mess to deal with. Instead, wait until it dries then dab a lit of makeup remover on a Q-tip and swipe it off.

8. You don’t fully clean it off!

Make sure to fully clean off your mascara before going to bed to avoid thick mascara in the morning. Use a product specially made for eye makeup removal or use jojoba oil on a makeup pad to remove it.

5 steps to let your red lipstick last longer!

The secret of setting your red lipstick is a combination of preparation and application. Here are 5 steps to keep your lips into place.

Step 1. Exfoliate your lips

Use a lip scrub to exfoliate your lips (like lush lip scrub in bubblegum) to ensure there are no flaxes of dead skin renting out space on your pout.

Step 2. Pat a little foundation over your lips

Use a beauty blender to pat a little foundation over your lips to cancel out lips’ natural pink.

Step 3. Use a lip liner to your lips

The lip liner is drier than lipstick and serves as a layer of color for the lipstick and serves as a layer of color for the lipstick to grab onto. ( I like glide-on lip pencil bad blood)

Step 4. Apply your lipstick

Start by applying your lipstick selectively and don’t swipe across the application of the lipstick then fill the rest of your lips (I like Kan Von D everlasting liquid lipstick in Outlaw - brick red or giorgio armani lip maestro in 400-red)

Step 5. Use a translucent powder over your lipstick

Place a tissue on your lips then dust a translucent powder over your lips with a powder brush through the tissue. This sets the color, without depositing a layer of powder finally apply a bit more lipstick on top.

Tip: to avoid having lipstick on your teeth, after applying your lipstick, put your finger in your mouth and close your lips around your finger. this should get  rid of any lipstick hiding on the inner part of the lips before it makes its way to your teeth.

7 Beauty tips to make your eyes look Bigger

1.    Reduce the puffiness of your eyes

Puffiness can make your eyes look smaller. To reduce this puffiness, wash your face with cool water then place cold, used teabags over your eyes. The tannins in the tea act as an astringent, tightening the skin.

2.    Groom your eyebrows

Your eyebrows affect the way your eyes look; they are frame for your eyes. Removing strays hairs can make your eyes more noticeable. After that, use a pencil or brow powder for filling. If you have bold brows, just apply brow gel to keep them in place.

3.    Apply your eyeliner the right way

Lightly line the upper lids from the inner corner of your lash line to the outer corner with a soft brown then blend it very close to your eyelashes, blending creates an illusion of bigger eyes. Apply the eyeliner a little heavier on the outer corner to make your eyes look longer and extend the eyeliner beyond the corners of your eyes to make your eyes appear wider.
Apply your eyeliner on your lower lashes below the lash line not inside the rim. Make sure to apply it from the outer corner to the middle, not the whole way.

4.    Apply a nude eyeliner to your waterline

Apply a nude pencil on your waterline because light colored pencil gives an effect of bigger eyes.

5.    Apply eyeshadow the right way

Put a dark shadow on your crease, a light shade like cream, beige, white on your actual eyelid, the darkest shade on the outer corner of your eyes and white eyeshadow to the inner corner of your eyes and under your eyebrows but use a soft white because harsh white will look theatrical.

6.    Curl your upper eyelashes with an eyelash curler

Invest in a good quality eyelash curler and to hold your curl long, heat your lash curler with a hair dryer before using it.

7.    Apply Mascara

The bigger and thicker your lashes, the more attention your eyes will command. Apply a lengthening formula, along the upper and lower lashes to create wide, doe eyes and then brush a thickening coat over the top for flirtier lashes. Focus the additional swipe near the center of the upper lash line to really draw the eyes upward. If you really want to commit to the look, consider investing in fake lashes.
