Oily Skin: causes, disadvantages, advantages and ways to reduce it!

I - What causes oily skin?

Oily skin occurs when the sebaceous glands produce more oil than usual, leading to an imbalance in your system. This can be due to genetics dietary choices, stress, hormone changes, high humidity, travel pollution, certain cosmetic products, poor diet and improper skin care. Women are more exposed to have oliy skin during menstrual cycles, pregnancy, menopause and while taking birth control pills.

II- Disadvantages

Oily skin can be hard to deal with. The accumulation of excess oil on the skin leads to whiteheads, blackheads, blind pimples and other skin irritations like acne, spots, blemishes and pimples.

III- Advantages

However, oily skin has its advantages too, for one thing it tends to age better and develop fewer wrinkles than dry and normal skin.

IV- How to reduce oily skin?

1.     Wash your face twice a day

The oil your skin produces is not inherently a bad thing, when you wash your face too much; you strip it of its oils so your skin learns that it must produce more oil.

2.     Use only like warm water to was your face

If you use hot water it will dry and irritate your skin that will encourage your skin to produce more oil.

3.     Use oil to moisturize

Yes! Use oil on your oily skin even if it sounds weird. Using oil will trick your skin into thinking that it has already produced enough oil therefore, getting it to stop producing more oil. I recommend the use of jojoba oil, which suits oily skin and helps with acne.

4.     Improve your diet

Reduce your intake of sugar, salt and fried foods and eat more fruits and vegetables. You may also want to cut dairy products out your diet because the hormones in milk products can have a big influence on acne and oil production.

5.     Improve your lifestyle
Get more exercise, lower your stress levels and sleep better.
